Bamboos are some of the most versatile and resilient grasses. They are easy to grow and maintain because these plants demand little care and fuss. They grow up fast like lawn grass and they benefit from simple watering and fertilizer applications. Once the bamboo has achieved its top mature size, which takes about ten years, it then becomes even easier to grow.

Bamboos do not require much fertilizer and watering when mature enough. Some species are even drought tolerant. They also benefit from a wind screen and some light

shade when first planted as well. This is especially true of the smaller variety, though some species like the Fargesias, Thamnocalamus and Sasas can grow well with a lot more sun. In fact, the Fargesias and most Thamnocalamus are grown better with some shade during the middle of the day when it is hottest.

Aside from watering and fertilizer, bamboos greatly benefit from pruning, which most owners forget to do. Bamboo plants grow by producing new canes every year, usually in the spring. Some tropicalPara obter Seu 100 & Free marcador: http://www.toquesfamosos.com/electronica-toques-gratis-vivo.html reais. species of clumping bamboos produce new canes later in the summer. These canes grow very fast in just a month or two. On the third month, the canes will start branching and leafing out like asparagus shoots. Each cane grows as much as it can in a short period of time and then the growth abruptly stops. In the next few years, each cane will only continue to branch and leaf out at a slower rate. As the canes grow even bigger, they can now begin to produce new and larger canes each year, after which the “mother” cane will age and finally die.

Placement is also important when determining where to position your bamboo shoots. You should always remember that most large bamboos grow faster and healthier in full sun. Fargesia and Thamnocalamus are the hardiest kinds and can be planted without the fear of uncontrollable spreading. Other bamboos spread by their underground rhizomes, so barriers need to be set up to limit their growth. A barrier 40 mil in thickness by 30 inches deep of HDPE (high density polyethylene) to control their spread usually does the trick.

Most bamboos grow extremely well in a moderately loamy soil that is slightly acidic. If your soil is quite heavy, you will have to add some organic materials. These materials can be dug well into the soil where the bamboo is to be planted. It is also recommended that you mulch the area well and let some earthworms do the work for you before you plant your bamboo. You don’t need to spend for mulch. Any organic material makes good mulch and grass preferred because of its high nitrogen and silica content. Hay is good also but it is often a source of weed seeds, which can be a future problem. Any kind of manure is good as long as it’s not hot. Limit the use of chicken manure for bamboos. Chipped trees are also good for bamboo growth.

Bamboo is a forest plant and it grows better if mulch is maintained over the roots and rhizomes. Do not rake or sweep up bamboo leaves that fall off the plant. These can keep the soil soft and moist. The leaves also recycle silica and other natural chemicals that are necessary for bamboo growth.

Annuals are a delight to the gardener and to those who view the garden. They provide bountiful color and fulfill many gardening functions. Annuals can fill in with quick growth and colorful flowers while perennial and foundation plantings take time to grow to their mature sizes. Annuals can provide foliage and color around bulbs before they bloom and fill the space after the bulb flowers are spent.

Annuals are easy to grow from seed. A gardener can grow many inexpensively. Try out various color combinations and types in your garden. There is an annual for just about any gardening use you may have.

But to start with annuals, you may wish to know a bit about the basics. This begins with knowing the difference between tender, hardy and half-hardy plants. Just what do these mean?

Tender annuals are usually plants that come from tropical and subtropical environments. They will not tolerate any frost at all and must not be set out in the garden till after the last frost is past. Many will not tolerate temperatures below about 50 degrees. If you wish to add these to your gardening efforts you must either start them indoors before the last frost or buy them as transplants. Transplant them out in the garden after all danger of frost is past. They will not last long in the fall garden once the night time temperatures begin to drop.

Hardy annuals can tolerate some frost. They can be direct seeded into the garden as soon as the you can work the soil to provide the correct seedbed. A gardener may even plant their seeds in the fall for early growth the next spring where there is a mild climate. As they tolerate some frost, they are a good means to extend your gardening efforts in the fall. They will not shrivel up at the first frost.

Half-hardy annuals are plants that will tolerate just a touch of frost in the garden. Consider them somewhat between the tender and hardy annuals as makes sense. It is still best to set these out after your last projected frost date in the spring. An early light frost in the fall should not kill these allowing you to enjoy your gardening efforts for a longer spell.

Are you interested in adding a collection of fish to your home or your office? If so, have you decided which type of fish you would like to have displayed? When it comes to fish keeping, there are a relatively large number of individuals who are interested in owning tropical fish. Are you one of those individuals? If so, you may be wondering what type of aquarium you need to purchase. Better yet, you may be wondering if you can use a traditional aquarium or if you need to have a tropical fish aquarium.

What type of aquarium you need to use for tropical fish is one of the most commonly asked questions, especially among first-time tropical fish owners. When searching for aquariums, you may come across fish tanks that are labeled or described as being tropical fish aquariums. This leads many individuals to believe that they need to have a special tropical fish aquarium to own a set of tropic fish. Honestly, that isn’t always the case. After a close examination, you will likely see that tropical fish aquariums are like any other type of aquariums, including saltwater aquariums and freshwater aquariums. Many times, the only difference between these aquariums is the way that they are set up.

When it comes to setting up a tropical fish aquarium, there are a number of important factors that should be taken into consideration. One of those factors is the tropical aquarium fish that you would like to purchase. This is important because there are some tropical aquarium fish that require special care and have special needs. Familiarizing yourself with the specific type of tropical aquarium fish you have or are about to have is one of the best ways to ensure that you go about setting up your tropical fish aquarium correctly. To do this research, you can either perform a standard interenet search or speak with the individual who sold you or is about to sell you your tropical fish. Doing this research ahead of time will help to ensure that your tropical fish are placed in an aquarium that will allow them to live long and healthy lives.

When setting up your tropical fish tank, it is extremely important that your water is in optimal condition for the fish. One mistake that many first time tropical aquarium fish owners make is using tap water. While it is possible to use tap water, will you not want to place your fish into the aquarium right away. In fact, you will need “cycle” the aquarium water and test your water and make sure that it is chlorine free. This is important because certain levels of chlorine can be dangerous to many fish, including tropical aquarium fish. It may be best to fish tank water test supplies to determine the exact condition of your aquarium water. These supplies may include a tap water conditioner. It is also advised that you allow your aquarium to run or “cycle”, once the filtration system has been set up. This will help to clear your tropical fish tank of harmful chemicals.

Since, as previously mentioned, the aquarium that you use isn’t necessarily as important as how you set it up, you are advised to examine your wants and needs when it comes to purchasing an aquarium for your tropical fish. You will want to keep your preference in mind, appearance wise, as well as the space that you have available for an aquarium. When it comes to purchasing tropical fish tank supplies, such as a filtration system or a heater, you may want to seek the assistance of a professional for more information. This assistance can come from a professional tropical fish keeper or from a fish tank supplier or manufacturer, such as Tenecor, who is willing to assist you with buying one or more of their products.

By keeping the above mentioned points in mind, you should easily be able to go about finding, purchasing, and setting up a tropical fish aquarium. If you would like to learn more about tropical fish, you are encouraged to perform a standard internet search and review the numerous tropical fish websites that can be found online. It might also be a good idea to invest in a topical fish keeping book or resource guide. The information that you may learn may help you for years to come.

Silk palm trees can bring a wonderful change to your environment. Whether it is the outdoors or indoors, silk palm trees have an everlasting beauty that stays in the mind. Knowing how to make a artificial palm tree flow with your environment is important to guarantee success in your decorative endeavors. This page will show you how to make sure your silk palm tree flows with and does not contrast with your environment.

The first thing you should do is stand back from the area where you want to place the palm tree. Look at the colors in the area. What color will your silk palm tree have to be to blend with the environment? Also, note that palm trees have prominent leaves. If your garden of environment doesn’t have plants with prominent leaves, your palm tree might look out of place.

Secondly, you must know that palm trees have a tropical character. Remember that the silk palm tree you choose may be beautiful and elegant, but if it doesn’t flow with your environment, its beauty will not be that much appreciated. Your environment must be willing the tropical look of a palm tree. Imagine where the tree will be, make a sketch of it if you have to. Can your environment take the palm tree’s tropical appearance?

After you’ve determined that, decide what story your environment will tell. What mood will people get by seeing the environment? Will it be as lively a mood as that of a party under the midday tropical sun? Or will it be more relaxed and calm like a warm tropical sunset? You need to decide that. Every decoration has a story to tell. What will yours tell? Let it be an extension of your personality. Let the palm tree bring out who you are and let your decorations be your signature.

There are many reasons as to why you might want to have fish in your garden pond – they add beauty, color, and interest to your garden and act as a sort of outdoor “pet.” But there are other good reasons for putting fish in your pond, as well. For one, fish will eat pesky mosquitoes as well as pond algae. Overall, pond fish are also fairly easy to care for, too.

Now that I have convinced you to get some fish for your garden pond, let us go over a few types of popular outdoor pond fish – most outdoor pond fish are freshwater-coldwater types.

Comet goldfish

This type of goldfish is going to be able to handle varied conditions in your pond – this includes varied conditions due to weather, as well as conditions due to your inexperience with pond fish. Comet fish can endure variations in both temperature and water quality. Comet goldfish are distinguishable by their long single tails – like a comet. They come in a variety of colors, including red and white. Also, comet goldfish tend to be fairly inexpensive. Chances are, your comet gold fish will live for 14 years and grow up to 10 inches long.

Shubunkin goldfish (aka calico goldfish)

This is a very interesting goldfish – like a common goldfish, shubunkin goldfish have long bodies and a single tail, but they are brightly colored in a mix of fantastic colors… red, brown, blue, yellow, and violet. They are also distinguished by black spots on their bodies and tails. This is a very tough goldfish type. Make sure that your pond has plenty of plants and open areas for swimming. If you have shubunkin goldfish, do not put telescope goldfish or bubble eye goldfish (and other slow swimming fish) in with them – they might end up starving because shubunkin goldfish will get to the food first… and they do not share. Rather, you should get your shubunkins a koi or two as buddies.

Koi

Koi range from very inexpensive to very expensive – there is quite a variety as to the type and quality of koi. By quality, I am referring to the color and patterns displayed on the koi’s scales. As abovementioned, koi can cohabitate with other goldfish like comets and shubunkins very well. Koi can grow to be several feet long, and they can live from 25-50 years! Some people think that koi are gold fish, but they are only distant cousins to the goldfish – they are actually much more closely related to the common carp. While koi can handle a wide range of temperatures, as sudden change in temperature can affect them adversely. Koi will get along with other tropical fish, as well.

Whichever type of fish that you decide to get for your pond, be sure that you get ones that will cohabitate well and ones that are durable (like the abovementioned types of fish). Also make sure that you do not try to stick too many fish in too small of a pond. Consider having only one inch of fish per gallon of pond water. A 10 foot by 10 foot pond can typically support about 20 five inch fish… This math equation might be a bit too much – a general rule of thumb is to start with just a few, and go from there. Remember that your fish will grow!

Just a note: If you are new to having fish in your pond, you may want to avoid fantail varieties – these are not quite as durable as other types of goldfish.

Our region’s shrub form of hibiscus has a long and storied history in the garden, a history that starts in ancient Asia, where Hibiscus syriacus, the species we know commonly as Rose of Sharon, is native. While not native in Europe, Rose of Sharon was cultivated there for centuries and is referred to throughout ancient writings, including passages of the Bible. Settlers brought it to the New World, and it soon became a landscape mainstay in colonial America.

It’s easy to understand why Rose of Sharon has remained so popular. There are few plants as easy to get established in the landscape or as floriferous and rewarding with so little expenditure of effort. While Rose of Sharon is considered a shrub, it’s good to note that it’s a rather large, bulky one. At 10 to 12 feet tall and six to 10 feet wide, it will rapidly eat up space in a small yard. But its seductive bloom can easily override gardening logic, especially when the plant is small and loaded with color.

H. syriacus and its three-to-four-inch-wide flowers bloom on new wood. It buds in midsummer and begins to bloom in late July, continuing into September. Rose of Sharon loves full sun but tolerates light shade, and, like its tropical brethren, this Zone 5 plant craves heat. Its leaves tend to be the last of any shrub to emerge, grudgingly peeking out in mid-May in southern New England but not until Memorial Day or beyond in the northern reaches of its range.

H. syriacus is divided into double-flowered and single-flowered varieties, with doubles tending to start their bloom slightly later than singles. Many doubles have been garden mainstays for decades, with flower colors that range from white and pink to red and violet. Some of the best double varieties are ‘Ardens,’ with its rose-purple flowers; ‘Blushing Bride,’ with rich pink flowers that fade to white; ‘Jeanne D’Arc,’ with profuse, pure white flowers; and ‘Lucy,’ with red flowers on a plant that may be the most vigorous of any double variety.

While the doubles are tried and true, it seems the single-flowering varieties have captured the imagination of today’s gar-deners. The singles’ earlier bloom time gives them the benefit of the first “oohs and aahs” of the season. Older varieties include ‘Aphrodite,’ with its dark pink blooms with dark red eye zones; ‘Diana,’ a pure white, long-blooming selection; ‘Bluebird,’ a big sky-blue selection with red eyes; ‘Minerva,’ a dense grower with lavender-violet flowers sporting dark red eyes; and ‘Red Heart,’ with its big white flowers with bright red centers.

Today, a new generation of singles is moving into the territory of the established singles, with waves of flowers on plants that are denser, more vigorous and slightly longer blooming than the old-timers. Two unique singles, ‘Lavender Chiffon’ and ‘White Chiffon,’ break new ground with lavender or pure white flowers with lacy, anemone-like centers. ‘Blue Satin’ shows off royal-blue flowers with darker eyes on a plant that is far superior to ‘Bluebird’ for strength. ‘Blush Satin’ has huge pinkish-white flowers with prominent red centers, while ‘Violet Satin’ is a flowering maniac with huge, deeply colorful violet-red blooms.

If the shrub form of hibiscus makes you wait for its foliage to show up, the perennial form will have you on the edge of your seat, even into early June, wondering if it has made it through the winter. You can relax, though, since many varieties of perennial hibiscus are tougher than their shrubby relatives, with Zone 4 hardiness that can bring the tropics to even the northernmost garden. Just like in the tropics, they will bring flower size and color that, at times, is so astonishing that you can’t help but stare.

Most selections of perennial hibiscus belong to the species H. moscheutos or H. coccineus, both North American natives, or are crosses between these and other less prominent species. Most form dense, wide, rapidly growing bushes in the garden. They love hot sun, heat and moist soil, although they adapt well to drier ground. When they begin to bloom in mid-July, they instantly dominate the garden with their flower size and color and continue to do so into mid-September. Be sure to place perennial hibiscus at the back of the garden and give them some room, because their size will tend to overwhelm any plant in the vicinity.

There are so many great selections of perennial hibiscus that it’s hard to list them all. The Disco Belle series has seen long, distinguished service in the garden. These H. moscheutos selections come in shades of white, red and pink, with five-inch diameter flowers covering a dense, Zone 4 bush that is two to three feet tall and three to four feet wide. ‘Lord Baltimore’ and ‘Lady Baltimore’ tower over the garden — they’re six to seven feet tall and four to five feet wide — with seven-to-10-inch flowers in lush red and ruffled pink, respectively, that are dizzying! These H. coccineus selections are also Zone 4 hardy.

The Luna series is newer to the market and is more like the Disco Belle series, but with wider flowers than Disco on denser plants. ‘Luna Blush’ (six-to-seven-inch white flowers with red eyes), ‘Luna Red’ (seven-to-eight-inch dark red flowers) and ‘Luna Pink Swirl’ (six-to-seven-inch pink flowers with white swirls) put on a display of flower power that is unrivaled among Zone 5 plants. ‘Fireball’ and ‘Kopper King’ bring a different show to the garden, with distinct red-tinged foliage that is as outstanding as their blooms. ‘Fireball’ sports six-to-eight-inch burgundy-red flowers, while ‘Kopper King’ draws gasps with 12-inch blooms that are pink with deep red eyes. ‘Fantasia’ may offer the most unique flower color of any perennial hibiscus; it shows off a myriad of nine-to-10-inch lavender flowers with purple-red eyes. All three of these varieties are three to four feet tall and wide, and they’re hardy to Zone 4.

A palm tree symbolizes life and its continuance, as well as joy and happiness. Dante mentions that Christians travelling to the Holy Land were known as “palmeros.” palm trees have been a part of myths as well as religion. The palm tree in the primal garden, the Garden of Eden, was known to be the tree of Life. Palm trees were also where the Goddess Astarte or Tamar resided.

A festival known as “palm Sunday” is celebrated by Christians to commemorate the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem just a few days before his crucifixion. People welcomed Jesus by waving palm fronds and carpeting his path with palm leaves.

The palm family of trees has approximately 202 genera and 2,600 species. The palms are native to tropical and subtropical climates, and commonly known palms are date, coconut, and areca nut. Known to have existed around 80 million years ago, palms are among the oldest varieties of flowering plants.

The trunks of the palm have been used since ancient times to build catamarans or special boats. Dates are harvested from palms. Palms produce coir ropes, mats, and bags, and palm oil is extracted from palms, along with palm wine.

In the US, different species of palm are native to Florida, California, Hawaii, Southern Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, and Texas. In fact, South Carolina is popularly known as the Palmetto State after the palms that line the coast.

As with all other things, many species of palm are facing extinction and are under threat from urbanisation, natural disasters, hybridization, and a lack of knowledge amongst common folk. Destruction of natural habitats, forest clearing operations, mining, clearing of mangroves, and dumping of trash are all detrimental to the survival of palms. Like other plants, palms are also prone to destruction by nature and disease.

Ornamental palms are a luxury and can cost from fifty to several hundred dollars.

Today the palm, the “Prince among trees,” needs care and attention. Otherwise, a tree that has lasted centuries will not remain for centuries to come.

And of course, depending on your personal taste, you will want to choose the best exotic flowers you can obtain to be the perfect flowers, the most adequate for the purpose they will be serving. For example: at someone’s funeral, you may want to choose bouquet of flowers that the deceased would have loved.

Here are some other examples (after all, these flowers are for happy occasions as well as the more tragic ones.

Musas: The Chinese Musa flower is a stunning example of the kinds of exotic flowers that are perfect for gardens or bouquets.

Calatheas: The exotic flower called the Genus Calathea is in the Marantaceae family of plowers, however it differs from other genera. The Marantaceae family of exotic flowers, in which Maranta and Ctenanthe are included, are unbranched inflorescences cone-like clusters. The calathea comes from tropical South America, Calathea, it has about three hundred different species. These flowers love the shade and humidity, they are virtually all grown in much of the world only indoors. These flowers require full shade from the sun. However, if they must, they can handle a small amount of morning sun. These exotic flowers need their soil to be moist but well-drained soil, the use of a fertilizer is recommended. When, on the rare occasion that these exotic flowers are grown outside—you must be sure that they are healthy, they must be free from all pests and diseases. Some of calathea will die midwinter, but will return again midsummer.

Cymbidiums: Cymbidiums contain approximately forty-four species they are found in the tropics of the old world. The elegant, large flowered types of cymbidiums come from the higher regions of the Himalayas, and they must be kept in cool conditions in order to bloom well.

Dendrobiums: Dendrobiums actually have about one thousand different species in their enormous family, they have countess hybrids as well. However, there are many varied growing conditions for this type of exotic flower. It is recommended that one establish from where in the world, and at what altitude their plant is accustom to, in order to determine how to best take care of the plant.

Miltonias: Miltonias are referred to as the Pansy Orchid sometimes. There are approximately ten different kinds of species, and miltonias are found primarily in Brazil, therefore they are warm-weather flowers, and there are many hybrids with wonderful fragrance, because the militona is such a fragrant flower to begin with. These flowers will add a wonderful sensory ambiance to their surroundings, because in addition to their scent they are extremely pleasing to the eye.

Odontoglossums: Odontoglossums also have a wide range of species, approximately 0ne hundred and seventy-five. These exotic flowers originated in the mountains of South America, as well as in higher altitudes and are used to wet clouded forests. Thus these wonderful flowers must be tended to under cool conditions, many hybrids exist as well, so there are many types to choose from.

Oncidiums: These are among the most popular exotic flowers and there are approximately six hundred different species in existence. They come from the tropics of the Americas, and few of them even grow in high altitudes, these also must be supervised under cooler conditions. Fortunately, the hybrids are more tolerant than the species, you will find that this is true for most plants.

Paphiopedilums: Paphiopedilums, the root word being Paphinia—who was the greek Goddess that the Romans later named Venus. Around sixty species exist, coming from Asia India and New Guinea. There are species with mottled leaved which need to be kept in warm conditions. And the paphiopedilums that are plain leaved and single flowered require intermediate/cool conditions, and plain leaved multiflowered species have to have warm environments to survive.

Phalaenopsis: Phalaenopsis, or the exotic flower that is often called the Moth Orchid comes from Java and the South Seas, the Phillipines and Queensland Australia. Therefore, they are definitely warm weather growers, and they do prefer to be in the shade. Phalaenopsis would make the perfect houseplant, they are very free flowering and also make great gifts.

Vandas: Vandas have approximately fifty species. Several hybrids have been derived from the tropics, Asia, and the orient—as far down as Australia. These hybrids require a warm environment that includes plenty of bright light. Many people hang them in their homes or gardens from wooden baskets.

Water Gardening: Water Lilies and Lotuses are a beautiful touch to your pond, or waterfall etc. Major cultivars of water lilies and lotuses—almost all of which are hybridizers—explore the best landscapes in which to grow these exotic flowers.

Nymphaea and Nelumbo: The genera Nymphaea and Nelumbo are beautiful species of exotic flowers, other genera in the waterlily family include Nuphar, Victoria, Euryale, Barclaya Draecena: Draecena (otherwise known as the dragon’s tree) is an exotic flower that neither requires regular watering, nor does it need much light at all. It’s a symbol of power and prosperity. These flowers may live up to one thousand years. A perfect gift for yourself or a friend or family member who does not have that much time for gardening, but would love to have a beautiful garden, however small, and something elegant and exotic to pass on for generations to come.

Anyone can add a striking touch of color to their home, or even the office with the elegant of wild exotic flowers. Exotic plants and flowers add a beautiful touch to any garden, home, patio or yard, as well as weddings, celebrations, banquets, and more solemn occasions.

The mention of palm trees immediately brings to mind images of long afternoons by the beach with the gentle swishing of fan-shaped leaves as they sway in the sea breeze. Palm trees are indeed found in coastal regions and in tropical climates. But did you know that there are at least 2500 species of palms in the world, and that a good number of them can be grown in our homes?

You can grow palm trees in your backyard like more and more people are opting to do. The palm tree’s ability to withstand extreme temperatures and their obvious tropical charm has made them favorite backyard plants in many less-urban parts of the United States.

Palm trees are best described as tall trees with the leaves and the fruits crowning over their long trunks. Belonging to the scientific family called Palmae or Arecaceae, they are mainly identified by the fan or feather-like leaves they sport. Most of the palm trees in the United States are cold hardy and are found in mainly southern California, Florida and Mexico. The hardiest palm trees that can withstand extreme winters are found much further north.

Widely used for ornate decorations, many species of palm trees are now commonly found in the United States and are not native to the country. They have been imported from different countries and naturalized. For example, the Chinese Fan Palm, the Brazilian Queen Palm and the Triangle Palm from Madagascar, are now found in Florida. Though there are drought hardy palms and cold hardy palms, cold hardy palms are best suited to American climatic conditions. Needle palms, Mediterranean fan palms and Butia palms, can withstand temperatures as low as -25 degree Celsius and -12 degree Celsius and thrive in American homes and farms.

Almost everyone who has seen parties in tropical regions would have yearned to throw or attend one such party. Tropical ambience has many attractive things to it - be it the many different types of plants and trees that give the lush green settings or the different types of beautiful flowers. Most of the tropical parties that are conducted in the evenings will have a set of natural lighting such as tiki torches, which complete the setting.

Tiki torches are the best bet to get the natural setting of a party in the tropics. They are small and controllable. Tiki torches can be easily set in a matter of minutes and can burn for several hours. They can be easily extinguished and are normally safe when set up appropriately. Tiki torches can also be placed in patios, along swimming pools, garden walkways or in any outdoor area.

Titi torches come in simple or decorative poles that are about five feet in length. These contain a small reservoir on top. This top has a holder which can hold a bottle or can of fuel. The only fuel to be used with tiki torches is authorized tiki fuel. Some torches do come in options to burn with natural gas or propane gas. The bottle is fitted with a metal top that is normally black in color and has an opening in the middle to allow the thick wick which will be immersed in to the tiki fuel. The wick can be lighted using extended lighters that are available and the torch can burn for several hours.

Tiki torches also come with small safety caps. The torch can be extinguished by placing the cap over the torch. When the torch is not in use, the wicks can be pulled out and kept separately.

Several options are available when it comes to Tiki torches. The most popular and easily available ones are made of bamboo or cane that adds a touch to the tropical ambience. These are very cheap - less than 10 dollars each and are easily available in home improvement stores. Several more sophisticated designs are also available. If you are planning to use Tiki torches near the ocean at a beach house, you can get torches made of copper or brass that can handle the salty atmosphere well.

To install a tiki torch, all you need to do is push the poles of the tick torch which are hollow, into the ground. Many accessories are available along with Tiki torches to ensure safety and convenience. Sometimes in strong winds, the torch can fall over, since the top is heavy. PVC pipes can be used in this case. Pipes of larger diameter than the tiki torch can be first placed in the ground and buried either completely or until the required level and filled with dirt or salt. The torches can be pushed and installed inside the pipes rather than the ground. PVC or metal hats that can be fitted on top of the torches are available to avoid the torches being soiled and prevent birds from damaging the torches.

Tiki torches are great to add some fun to the environment. Ensure safety precautions like having a handy fire extinguisher nearby and purchase only certified torches and fuel, and stricly follow instructions.
